Esta es una trilogía pensada para los nuevos personajes y a los demás solo queda despedirlos.
El problema está, claro, en si esa despedida está a la altura o no de los personajes que se han USADO para promocionar a los nuevos.
No lo estuvo en el caso de Han, no lo ha estado en el caso de Luke. Y tampoco, ya, en el de Leia, me temo.
La razón por la que Luke "compite" con Rey por protagonismo es que no han sabido dotarla a ella en dos películas de una personalidad e historia propia tan atractiva como la de su maestro. Ni Poe puede competir con Han, ni Finn nos ha maravillado como la atrevida Leia. No hablemos ya de Vader y las pataletas de su nieto...
Mal servicio para los personajes clásicos, mucho peor para los nuevos, que no llegan a sucedáneo.
Yeah. It’s something that, early in the process, the first thing I had to crack in the movie is why Luke is on that island. I had to figure out something that made sense, and you don’t know much about where’s Luke’s head is at coming out of “The Force Awakens.”
But what you do know is his friends are out fighting the good fight, and he’s taken himself out of the equation. So for me growing up, I know Luke as a hero. I know that he must think he’s doing the right thing by taking himself out of the equation, and that means he thinks the best thing for the galaxy is that he’s not a part of this and, by extension, that the Jedi are not a part of this. So that leads you down a certain path.
As I worked out that his arc was going to be coming to a place where he does this big heroic act that is going to be spread throughout the galaxy — basically taking back the mantle of Luke Skywalker, a Jedi master, a legend — it just slowly became clear to me that it would be this big grand act.
It would be an act of mythmaking. And if there was ever going to be a place in this entire trilogy to give him this emotional moment of a goodbye, this was probably going to be the most emotionally potent place to do it.
But I also have to say I’m not writing the next one, and I’m not sure what J.J. [Abrams] and [screenwriter] Chris Terrio are going to do in the next one with Luke. But setting up possibilities for the next one, honestly, it seems much like Obi-Wan going where he did after “New Hope.”
The possibilities seemed even more exciting in terms of what Luke’s place could be in the next chapter with him entering into this other realm as opposed to him having a lightsaber and being with our heroes. It opened more possibilities as opposed to fewer. I was holding my breath when I did it and I realized all these things, though I also thought, “S—.”
Mark had all these years to think what Luke’s triumphant return would be. Luke’s the hero coming back into this story, and the fact that this character and this movie could not be that — this character in this movie was by necessity what he had to be, and also in relation to Rey, that brought its own necessity.
If he comes in as just an optimistic fighter for the good guys, that gives Rey nothing to bounce up against — that’s just an older version of Rey. So it’s not what Mark had in his head initially, and that’s why he’s spoken very openly about his being caught off guard by the script and where the character ends up. But I knew this is where it had to be.
We got into the conversations, and we got into the work, and we talked, and we argued, and we discussed, and that process ended up being very good for the character and also for our working relationship. It was a very good one.

"Debe morir lo viejo" dijo mientras aceptaba que su película comenzará con un logo y una melodía que tienen ya cuarenta años.
Por mucho que lo justifique, esta evolución de los personajes no puede ser más aburrida y decepcionante.
O sea, Leia debería ser como Judi Dench en la serie Bond, pero con poderes de la Fuerza.
Han podría parecer un delincuente fracasado y a la vez dirigir el espionaje de la República ("Es James, amigo mío. Llámeme James"). Seguiría siendo más impredecible y molón que los demás.
Lando no puede ser peor ministro de economía que nuestro Luis de Guindos XDDD.
Y Luke... Joder, Luke es lo que habría llegado a ser Anakin si hubiera tenido salud y buenos mentores. Tiene el mismo potencial para la Fuerza que su padre y sólo hace un truquito telepático que acaba con él. Lo mismo le daría salir como fantasma. ¿Y quién va a combatir el lado oscuro si no entrena a nadie?
Además, ya hemos visto al Imperio y la república sucumbir el uno frante al otro. ¿Por qué no mostrarlos como bandos igualados, con sus ejércitos bien equipados y sus usuarios de la Fuerza en gran número? Ya podrían habernos mostrado a esos "Caballeros de Ren" en dos películas.
¡Madre mía, Krueger, qué bien suena todo eso! ¿Dónde hay que firmar?
Bueno, quitando lo de Han, que no tiene sentido. Claro que peor fue lo que hicieron con él y con Leia en el Episodio VII, y nos lo tuvimos que comer igualmente. Y del ocho mejor ni hablamos...
¡Por lo demás, ya le digo, sus ideas me parecen de partida de lo más interesantes, bravo!
Gracias Clon, pero apenas hay alguna idea mía (lo de Han, y ya ves). Está todo ahí, en el universo expandido. Es increíble cómo la han cagado los guionistas de las últimas películas, teniendo ese material.
Claro, es que yo nunca he sido muy fan del Universo Expandido más allá de Imperio Oscuro y poco más, la verdad.
En cualquier caso, ya le digo que esas ideas parecen, a priori, de lo más interesante.
Sobre su idea para Han Solo, no se ofenda, por favor, porque me parece una gran idea, de verdad, pero no para nuestro sinvergüenza favorito. No veo razonable intentar pasar a Han Solo por espía que finge ser un criminal fracasado cuando es uno de los tres mayores traidores al Imperio primero, y luego héroes de la Rebelión, que ayudó a destruir las dos Estrellas de la Muerte y derrocar al Imperio, y cuya cara, nave y filiaciones eran archiconocidas en toda la galaxia. Por no hablar de su matrimonio con Leia.
Que es una gran idea, desde luego, pero no es factible para el antiguo contrabandista favorito de todos.
Ahí podrían haber recurrido a uno de esos nuevos personajes como Poe, por ejemplo, o DJ.
